About me

YachtSquad is a small project built by a sailor who wanted a way to compare a race against every other boat that ever sailed the same course - not just the ones on the water that day.

The idea

Most racing happens against whoever else shows up on a given day. YachtSquad adds asynchronous racing: your track, once recorded, becomes a ghost that anyone can race against later - corrected for handicap, so a slower boat sailed yesterday and a faster boat sailed today can still be compared fairly. Race organizers can attach challenge prizes to a course, so beating a ghost's corrected time can win something even outside of a scheduled event.
